Chuck Greenberg Still In Talks With Hurricanes Over Potential Sale

Sports attorney Chuck Greenberg  yesterday said that he and his partners are still in talks to buy the Hurricanes. Speaking at SBJ/SBD’s inaugural Dealmakers in Sports conference, Greenberg said, “It turns out that raising equity for hockey in North Carolina is a little more challenging than baseball in Texas or hockey in Pittsburgh or just about any sport anywhere. But we’re still at it. Hasn’t been sold yet. And we’ll see what happens.”

Greenberg did not reference recent comments made by Hurricanes President Don Waddell , who said the team had not heard from Greenberg in "four to five weeks." Greenberg, who owns three MiLB clubs, was asked if he is looking to add any more teams to his portfolio. He said, “There’s no master plan. We’ll see. It depends a little bit on what happens with the Hurricanes. ... I could see adding. I could see subtracting. We’ll see how it plays out.”
