LeBron's Latest Decision Expected To Change NBA Landscape

LeBron James by 11:59pm ET tonight will either opt in to the final year of his Cavaliers contract or become an "unrestricted free agent," and "most of the NBA's major free agent movement hinges on where" he will wind up ( USA TODAY, 6/29 ). Twice this decade James has "reshaped the NBA landscape," and again the balance of power across the league threatens to "tilt with his decision." James' latest turn as a free agent could be the "wildest one yet" ( SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 6/29 ).

ESPN.com's Zach Lowe writes, " The madness is upon us. The landscape of the league is about to shift in ways that might cause the  Golden State Warriors  to look up from their phones and nod briefly in acknowledgement" ( ESPN.com, 6/28 ).

Quote of the Day
Our inability to acquire the true valuation of our media rights was exposed by the NBA contract. ... If we have $20B to deal with versus $4B, all the ills of what a lot of owners struggle with today will be resolved and it will not be a labor issue.
-- MLB agent Scott Boras, on how the issues in MLB that people think would be resolved by a salary cap would actually be solved if the league could bring in more revenue from things like media rights.
