Calgary Puts Flames Arena On Back Burner, Funds Other Projects

Council voted 11-4 to approve funding projected to total more than C$1.5B. Mayor Naheed Nenshi said that the city will deploy a "combination of cash reserves" as well as "government grants and the community revitalization levy." City officials will release "further details about the financial strategy" at a March 18 Council meeting ( CALGARY HERALD, 3/5 ).
