Relevent-Backed Women's ICC Finds Audience In Second Year

The Women's Int'l Champions Cup drew 8,208 to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., for last night's doubleheader, with Lyon topping the NWSL N.C. Courage 1-0 in the championship match. The event "found an audience" after last year's inaugural Women's ICC drew a "sparse crowd at Hard Rock Stadium." This year, organizer Relevent Sports Group landed Budweiser as the "first presenting partner of the Women's ICC" ( SOCCERAMERICA.com, 8/19 ). Both clubs "started everyone and substituted" like this was a "cup final, not an August exhibition." Relevent has "bigger plans" going forward ( Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 8/19 ).
