West Coast Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez "has agreed to a contract extension." A formal announcement is expected soon. Nevarez took charge of the WCC in '18 after "many years at the Pac-12." Her extension takes another "name off the list of potential candidates for the Pac-12 commissioner post," with Larry Scott set to depart in June. On that front, search firm TurnkeyZRG is currently "vetting as many as eight or 10 candidates, with interviews expected to start in the next week or two." A source said, "No decision (is) imminent" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 4/25).
