SBJ Live From Tokyo
TOKYO -- The USOPC oversees perhaps the largest single delegation in Tokyo, with a total headcount of some 1,500 individuals. That figure includes over 600 athletes. According to USOPC Chief of Sports Performance and NGB Services Rick Adams, over 200 of them have elected to walk in the parade of nations during the Opening Ceremony. Tokyo organizers put no limit on the total athlete headcount, but Adams said that it is still a “significantly smaller group” than usual because of guidelines that disallow athletes from arriving in Japan more than five days before their competition.
