Remy leaving Red Sox booth to treat cancer

NESN Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy announced that he is "stepping away from the booth for more cancer treatment." The 68-year-old Remy "has been battling lung cancer on and off since 2008, often taking time away from the season to focus on his health." After the Red Sox’ 4-1 win over the Tigers, manager Alex Cora "started his press conference by dedicating the win to Remy." Remy announced the news before yesterday’s game at Comerica Park via a statement from NESN (BOSTON HERALD, 8/5).
