With a crowd of 20,113 on hand at Tom Benson HOF Stadium (capacity: 23,000), the Steelers kicked off HOF weekend with a 16-3 preseason victory against the Cowboys in a "performance that is sure to be the least exciting event of the four-day celebration" (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 8/6). Maybe the enthusiastic crowd was an "indication that even for a match between teams using few regulars, the hunger for pro football has not faded." Nineteen of the 20 living HOF inductees were introduced before the game. Only Troy Polamalu, who "tested positive for COVID-19 and whose attendance this weekend is uncertain, was not on hand" (Canton REPOSITORY, 8/6).
