NFL sends alcohol policy reminder to teams

The NFL has reminded all 32 teams of the league’s policy that "prohibits alcohol in the locker room and on team planes” following a series of alcohol-related incidents last week. Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested early Friday morning for "speeding and suspicion of driving under the influence.” Also, after the Commanders’ victory over the Eagles on Monday, videos of "players drinking on the plane home" were posted on social media. The team did "not provide the alcohol” (USA TODAY, 11/18). In Nashville, Gentry Estes wrote on the situation involving Downing that it is “getting difficult for the Titans to continue to back" him. While one may “never want to see a regrettable decision cost anyone his or her job or livelihood,” Downing was "on shaky ground as the team's coordinator anyway” (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 11/18).
