Former NBAers Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, and Antawn Jamison returned to Capital One Arena on Friday to be honored by the Wizards. The trio known as the Big 3 played together in the early 2000s, earning playoff berths three times and making it to the Eastern Conference Semifinals once. This was Arenas' first time back with the team since he left in 2010. Former Wizards announcers Phil Chenier and Steve Buckhantz also were back together again (Wizards). During halftime between the Wizards and Heat, the franchise “embraced one of its very best” in Arenas, and the "appreciation continued throughout the game” as Arenas sat courtside next to Wizards owner Ted Leonsis’ son, Zach. Arenas spent timeouts “talking to Wizards players or smiling for pictures with nearby fans.” Jamison now works in the Wizards front office while Butler is an assistant for the Heat, the Wizards opponent on Friday (WASHINGTON POST, 11/18).
