Speaking to a group of about 200 at a Christian product show not far from his Charlotte area race shop a couple of months ago, Joe Gibbs veered from the details of a faith-based book he’s sold for the past dozen years into the story behind one released last week. Gibbs wrote his first book, “Game Plan for Life,” in consultation with co-authors who helped him tie biblical teachings to everyday life decisions. Long known as a devout Christian who managed to integrate faith and football, he hoped to do the same for readers who were more likely to take life advice from a retired coach with three Super Bowl rings and five NASCAR championships than from a degreed theologian or local pastor.
