Reflecting the global nature of sports business, the No. 1 overall entry on our 20th annual Most Influential People in Sports Business list resides outside the U.S. Traditionally, the focus of the list was on North America. However, particularly in this past year, maintaining that boundary proved impossible as Yasir Al-Rumayyan of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund exerted his influence on the American golf scene along with global moves in soccer, combat sports and motorsports.
