Stetson AD Jeff Altier will celebrate his 25th anniversary leading the Hatters' athletic department on Tuesday, highlighting a rare example of stability in a period where dozens of his D-I counterparts have retired or simply left college sports altogether over the past 15 months. In a field that sees a roughly 15% churn rate in any given year, only six current ADs can boast of a longer tenure than Altier, according to SBJ's David Broughton.
While still a few years behind Altier in terms of holding the top seat, Minnesota’s Mark Coyle, Washington’s Jennifer Cohen and Delaware’s Chrissi Rawak will each be celebrating their fifth anniversary next week.
In next week's SBJ, Michael Smith examines how new-age challenges and changes are leading to record levels of turnover among ADs.
NOTE: * = Carter will move to an emeritus fundraising role on Aug. 1.
