Blockchain-backed fantasy rugby game launches ahead of 2023 Rugby World Cup

Oval3, a blockchain-backed fantasy rugby game, launched today in advance of Friday’s opening match of the 2023 Rugby World Cup when France hosts New Zealand. Also debuting in concert with the free fantasy game is a marketplace for users to collect digital playing cards, tokens, merchandise and fan experiences. Oval3 is the successor to Fantasy Rugby World, a more traditional contest that was also developed by London-based BAMG Sports. Oval3 holds exclusive NFT rights for the French National Rugby League (LNR), which includes the top two professional tiers of the sport in the country, as well as for Major League Rugby in the U.S. World Rugby’s 2021 Men’s Player of the Year and France captain, Antoine Dupont, is an investor in the company.
