FIBA has expanded its relationship with Genius Sports to include Second Spectrum player tracking technology in a long-term deal that will run through 2035. Genius and FIBA have collaborated since 2004 on the collection and distribution of real-time event data and on competition management -- via the FIBA LiveStats and Organizer tools -- and now will use AI and computer vision to supply international leagues and national federations to the tracking data.
The new agreement begins in 2025 and will include dual designations of Genius as FIBA’s Official Data & Video Capture and Production Partner and its Official Innovation & Technology Services Partner. “Through this automated solution, our objective is to assist National Federations and Leagues to increase their reach and revenue and at the same time, reduce costs,” FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklissaid in a statement.
