The Univ. of South Carolina is consolidating its NIL operations, as the school's official collective, Garnet Trust, is merging with the other prominent Gamecock-centric collective, Carolina Rise. The entity will operate under the "Garnet Trust" moniker, while JC Shurburtt, owner and co-founder of Carolina Rise, will join Garnet Trust’s leadership team as a consultant.
Current Carolina Rise Members become part of the new “Carolina Rise Club,” which Garnet Trust also launched today. The Garnet Trust was founded in November 2021, while the school dubbed the organization its official collective in July 2023 through a collaboration with Learfield's Gamecock Sports Properties. The multiyear relationship gives the collective access to gameday activations, events and promotion throughout the college athletics season.
