The Rose Bowl unveiled a statue of former Ohio State RB Archie Griffin Saturday, honoring him "as the stadium did with monuments to Jackie Robinson, Terry Donahue, Keith Jackson and the 1999 U.S. Women’s World Cup team.” Griffin is the only two-time Heisman winner and won four Big Ten titles with OSU from 1972 to 1975. The Rose Bowl “gifted an identical Griffin statue” to OSU (L.A. TIMES, 8/17).
Meanwhile, former Rangers 3B Adrián Beltré will be "honored with a bronze statue outside of Globe Life Field" in 2025. He will become the third former Rangers player with a statue outside of the ballpark, joining former C Ivan Rodriguez and P Nolan Ryan. It was “not made immediately clear when or where Beltré's statue will be erected" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/17).
Statue #5 is dedicated at the @RoseBowlStadium to the incredible Archie Griffin. Thanks to all the donors that generously made this possible 🌹🌹🌹
