Everton has agreed to a partnership with Red Bull, naming the energy drink company as the club's new Official Energy Drink Partner. As a part of the multiyear agreement, Red Bull will be able to "promote their brand globally across the club’s physical and online channels" in both the team's final year at Goodison Park and their new stadium. Sources report the deal "is a record-breaking deal of its kind in terms of finances" for Everton (Liverpool ECHO, 9/9).
The Rugby Football Union will "make more than 40 redundancies in a mass restructure which will affect the entire governing body except elite performance." There have been "between 40 and 45 roles" that were told in a Monday call they would be affected, coming less than a week after the RFU and Premiership Rugby announced a $345.57M Professional Game Partnership for the next eight years (London TELEGRAPH, 9/9).
Manchester United has "entered into a 'strategic partnership'" with local group, Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force, to "examine how a new or redeveloped Old Trafford can be the catalyst for regenerating the area." The group is "understood to be centring its discussions on building a new 100,000-capacity stadium rather than redeveloping the existing ground" (SKYSPORTS.com, 9/9).
Clearlake Capital, owners of a majority of Premier League club Chelsea, are considering "buying out" minority owner Todd Boehly after the "atmosphere in Chelsea's boardroom has deteriorated since the weekend." Clearlake would also consider "striking a deal with the billionaire that would remove his influence and keep him in little more than a ceremonial role" (THE GUARDIAN, 9/9).
