The MLS playoffs will continue Sunday with Orlando City SC taking on Atlanta United FC while L.A. Galaxy faces Minnesota United FC. The N.Y. Red Bulls defeated NYCFC by a score of 2-0 Saturday in front of a crowd of 22,500 at Citi Field, and LAFC fell in Seattle before a crowd of 22,301 at BMO Stadium to the Sounders, 2-1.
It will be the Red Bulls’ first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2018. There were some “chippy moments” between the clubs and fans, including an “unfortunate moment” after the game when a group of NYCFC supporters “threw plastic bottles at celebrating Red Bulls players.” A separate fan “ran onto the field and toward” an NYCFC player before being tackled by security (N.Y. POST, 11/23).
