CFP Exec Dir Rich Clark said after the college playoffs went head-to-head with two NFL Games on Dec. 21, that the committee "would like to avoid those matchups in the future." Clark: “This is another thing that we’re going to need to look at because, obviously, the NFL is just supreme when it comes to sporting events and viewership, and we want to find where the best win-win solution is, here. We want to see what’s the best way that we can adjust to make it so that viewers can see all that they want and not have to miss that NFL game -- or more likely, miss one of our games” (PUCK, 1/6).
HOLD ON ONE SECOND: SI’s Stephen Douglas noted ESPN reporter Adam Schefter was on "Get Up" yesterday morning when his phone rang and since it was "Black Monday" in the NFL, Schefter “took the call, raising his finger to tell his ESPN co-workers to hold on one second.” Less than two minutes after Schefter's phone rang, “he was back on ESPN with a BREAKING NEWS chyron” to report Bengals DC Lou Anarumo had been fired (SI, 1/6).
