Wasserman Hockey has added another feather to its agency cap with the acquisition of Denver-based hockey agency KO Sports. KO Sports owner Kurt Overhardt will become a Wasserman Hockey EVP. Others joining him include KO Sports partner Joe Oliver, agents Shawn Hunwick and Brian Schoelzel, and scout Derek Langlois.

With the move, Wasserman Hockey will represent dozens of KO Sports clients including Red Wings C Andrew Copp, Oilers D Mattias Ekholm, Flames LW Joel Farabee, Ducks LW Cutter Gauthier, Ducks G John Gibson, Wild G Filip Gustavsson, Utah C Nick Schmaltz, Hurricanes D Jaccob Slavin, Ducks RW Troy Terry, Ducks D Jacob Trouba and many more.

Wasserman Hockey has been aggressively expanding since its founding in March 2018 through its purchase of a stake in hockey representation group Orr Hockey Group. The L.A.-based firm also hired former CAA Sports agent Judd Moldaver, who represents standout names like Oilers C Connor McDavid and Maple Leafs C Auston Matthews, that same year.

In June 2020, Wasserman acquired Chicago-based global hockey agency Acme World Sports, which added over 50 clients to Wasserman’s hockey business and expanded the agency’s reach into Europe. In July 2021, Wasserman added over two dozen NHL clients when it acquired Vancouver-based agency PointsWest Hockey. Lastly, in September 2024, Wasserman formed a partnership with Montreal-based Momentum Hockey and owners Olivier Fortier and Charles-Olivier Roussel, and immediately rebranded the firm under Wasserman Hockey.

The Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli previously reported that Overhardt had begun notifying his clients that KO Sports would be acquired by Wasserman on March 23. The KO Sports acquisition is the latest move for the 22-year-old company, which has acquired others like branding and signage firm Bluemedia last month and agency CSM Sport & Entertainment in 2023. Bluemedia rebranded to Wasserman on April 2.
