The Realest has launched FIFA’s first on-site authentication and memorabilia platform for the FIFA Club World Cup, with items from the event being put up for auction and sale this week. Company representatives were on-site throughout the tournament collecting match-used items including corner flags, warm-up bibs, team flags, ceremonial mementos and other tournament signage.
Financial terms of FIFA’s partnership with The Realest were not disclosed, but the governing body will earn resale royalties on both primary and secondary sales of items through The Realest platform. The L.A.-based company’s other sports partners include the PGA of America, Eagles, Heat and Big Ten.
The Realest also created several one-of-one products, including a jersey designed with reggaeton artist J Balvin (also a The Realest client) cut from kits of all 32 participating teams. Balvin performed at halftime of Sunday’s Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium.
“Soccer, historically, despite being the most popular sport in the world, doesn’t have the level of memorabilia – several other sports are far ahead of it,” said Scott Keeney, founder & CEO of The Realest. “We think we can help it play catch-up.”
