Citi has been selective about its investment in sports sponsorships, forcing Tom Cerasoli to home in on the right opportunities to drive business results across five lines of business ranging from credit cards to institutional investment. The bank, whose name adorns the New York Mets’ Citi Field home, will have a major presence at the Ryder Cup later this year, hosting high-end clients and activating throughout the New York metro area. It has established a presence in red-hot Formula 1 through a deal with Aston Martin. Cerasoli also has pushed back against the slicing and dicing of the financial services category, seeking broad exclusivity for Citi in its deals.
