When Jeff Hemschoot joined Jersey Mike’s in 2008, the sandwich chain had 400 locations and a negligible presence in major sports. Today, it has more than 3,100 storefronts, and the brand doubled its market share to 15% from 2019 to 2024. Throughout that growth, Hemschoot has overseen its sports marketing portfolio, mostly with colleges at first, but then grabbing leaguewide rights with the NHL in 2023 and the NFL this year. Expect Jersey Mike’s and Hemschoot to keep the gas pedal down in the wake of Blackstone’s private equity takeover in February.
