Brett O’Brien
Chief Sports Officer
Given its vast sponsorship portfolio, there have been numerous sports marketing captains at Pepsi. Brett O’Brien, a 24-year veteran of the Pepsi system, including stints as CMO for Pepsi Foods (Frito-Lay and Quaker), CMO at Frito-Lay and GM at Gatorade, was named PepsiCo’s first chief sports officer last year, centralizing efforts of brands long associated with sports, such as Gatorade, Pepsi’s carbonated soft drinks and a Frito-Lay brand roster that includes Cheetos, Doritos, Lay’s, Ruffles and Tostitos. More recently, the company established, and O’Brien is leading, what it’s calling a Sports and Entertainment Center of Excellence, an effort to “create a holistic partnerships strategy.”
