New Rays owner Patrick Zalupski and the ownership group are “very focused on making sure fans feel connected to the entire organization and enjoy coming to games,” according to Marc Topkin of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. Zalupski, who has not said much publicly about the team since a media conference shortly after taking control at the end of last season, said, “Fan engagement, fan experience is really going to be at the forefront of what we’re trying to accomplish here right out of the gate as a new ownership group.” He said winning is “our goal,” but they also “want to give everybody an incredible experience when they come to the ballpark and leave feeling something special.” Topkin noted work on “getting a new stadium built in Tampa and finishing repairs of the old one in St. Petersburg for the April 6 home opener have kept Zalupski and his partners focused.” Zalupski said, “We’re kind of a roll up your sleeves and get to work kind of team.” He added, “We’ve got to find the forever home for the Rays” (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 3/28).
