Franchise Notes

SI’s Madison Williams reported the Wings “sold out their season ticket memberships for 2026,” the third season in a row they have done so. The sellout includes “all premium seating as the courtside and suite inventory, too.” The big draw for the 2026 season is “of course to witness” G Paige Bueckers reunite with her former UConn teammate and this year’s No. 1 draft pick, G Azzi Fudd (SI, 4/22).

PLAYER HELP: In London, Tom Allnutt reported Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur is “advertising to hire a professional psychologist to support the players and improve the mentality of their team.” Several players work with their own personal psychologists, but Tottenham wants “someone ‘embedded’ within the men’s first-team squad.” The club is “relegation-threatened,” currently sitting 18th in the Premier League (London TIMES, 4/22).

NEXT IN LINE: In Toronto, Lance Hornby wrote there are indications Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment CEO Keith Pelley’s search for a GM is “winding down either this week or next.” Yet “no one is sure where” former Canuck GM Mike Gillis and former NHLer Mats Sundin fit into the picture after both were interviewed, but “not, it would seem, for the singular GM post.” Gillis would be “angling for a supervisory position,” while the non-trained exec Sundin would be eyeing a “prominent advisory role” (TORONTO SUN, 4/22).
