The Vikings have begun their “official start” in the search for a new, full-time GM, and EVP/Football Operations Rob Brzezinski has “communicated to ownership his interest in being considered for the permanent job,” according to Emily Leiker of the MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE. The Vikings “delayed their search three months” following Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s firing Jan. 30, naming Brzezinski their interim GM to lead them through free agency and the draft process. Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said in a statement that they will “be assisted in the search process by a ‘small internal advisory committee of senior leaders.’” That group is “likely to include” COO Andrew Miller, who was involved in the previous GM and head coach searches. The Vikings will also use a search firm, TurnkeyZRG, to “ensure a wide-ranging group of candidates.” Candidates, however, will “not be made public by the team,” differing from previous GM searches. Many within the Vikings organization have “expressed confidence in Brzezinski stepping fully into the role.” He has received “positive reviews from ownership to lower-level staffers about how he has led the Vikings through a critical stretch of the offseason dealing in player acquisition” (MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE, 4/29).
