Fox has launched its campaign around the World Cup, starting with a spot called “Miracle” featuring the USMNT, according to Seth Vertelney of USA TODAY. The ad “envisions the USMNT and Brazil facing off in the final.” USMNT F Christian Pulisic “takes a last-second corner kick, leading to the tournament-clinching goal.” With the Elvis Presley song “The Impossible Dream” playing in the background, the country “erupts.” The ad features “cameos from several USMNT players” in addition to Pulisic, including D Tim Ream and MF Diego Luna, as well as former USMNT coach Bruce Arena. Fox Sports analysts Tom Brady and Zlatan Ibrahimović “also make an appearance” (USA TODAY, 5/4). AD AGE’s Mark Mwachiro noted former U.S. hockey player Mike Eruzione, who was captain of the 1980 national team, also appears in the ad. Eruzione in the spot says, “You don’t believe in miracles?” The ad was created by Fox Sports Marketing and Special US. “Miracle” is the first installment of Fox Sports’ promo campaign, with the network saying that “other promos will roll out in the coming weeks” (AD AGE, 5/4).
