In Nashville, Adam Sichko reported Nashville businessmen BLVD Capital co-founder and partner Jim Darter and Altitude Ventures managing partner Landon Gibbs “disclosed their plans for a sports-centered mixed-use development at the 233-acre Brownland Farm.” The development, named “The Banks at Brownland,” includes a hockey facility operated by the Predators and 11 grass and turf fields for community youth sports -- created and programmed in collaboration with the Titans and Nashville SC. Gibbs said it is the “first time” that the Titans, Predators and Nashville SC have worked “jointly to do something for the community” (NASHVILLE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/23).
THE PLAN: In Atlanta, Fisher Isbell reported the final design for Georgia Tech’s planned $70M remodel of Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field will “include 12,500 mesh chairback seats, remodeled suites, overhauls of several club spaces and a new state-of-the-art video board and sound system.” The renovation will reduce capacity from 51,913 to approximately 50,000. Construction begins after the 2026 football season and is “expected to be completed in time for the team’s 2027 campaign” (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 6/22).
CHANGE IS NEEDED: Reser Stadium will have new turf this fall, but Oregon State football coach JaMarcus Shephard said that the playing surface “will not have ‘a ton different’ than the previous design.” In Portland, James Crepea noted the current turf, which is being removed, had “black end zones with white lettering outlined in orange and the Beavers logo at midfield.” Shephard was not sure “whether the midfield logo would be the same or replaced by the script Beavers.” Shephard felt the old turf could have “contributed to some of the teams’ injuries last season and made replacing the turf a priority from his first day” (Portland OREGONIAN, 6/23).
