The Pirates on Wednesday opened Legacy Hall, a new multi-use space in PNC Park “housing the ballpark’s largest display of the team’s history,” according to Grace Longworth of PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES. Located along in the space that previously held the Pirates Team Store, Legacy Hall is “open for family and corporate reservations of up to 150 guests.” When not reserved for private use, the hall will be “open to ticketed fans each game day.” It will also “serve as the new starting point for guided tours of PNC Park.” Potential uses for the space “range from large meetings and presentations, augmented by the space’s two large-screen televisions, to small seated dining events.” Many of Legacy Hall’s artifacts are “on display in PNC Park for the first time.” Some of the collection was “sourced from the team, while other items are on loan from prominent local collectors and sports historians.” Highlights from the collection include “uniforms worn in-game by Pirates legends Honus Wagner and Ralph Kiner, Roberto Clemente’s locker from Three Rivers Stadium and the final out ball from Game Six of the 1909 World Series” (PITTSBURGH BUSINESS TIMES, 6/24).
