YAHOO SPORTS’ Darshan Dasai reported Premier Boxing Champions and DAZN reached a “multiyear broadcast agreement” Thursday that will see “PBC events for the next few years air on DAZN.” The deal begins July 25 with Errol Spence vs. Tim Tszyu, which will “air on Prime Video pay-per-view, DAZN pay-per-view and DAZN Ultimate.” PBC is expected to “stage events in September, October and November that will be broadcast on DAZN.” PBC becomes the “latest entity to join DAZN,” boxing promoters including Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom, Bob Arum’s Top Rank, Frank Warren’s Queensberry, Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy, Kalle Sauerland’s MF Pro and Ben Shalom’s BOXXER (YAHOO SPORTS, 7/9).
SHOWCASING MOTHERHOOD: VARIETY’s Aramide Tinubu noted Roku‘s “Gamechangers: Mother/Athlete” documentary will debut this fall and take viewers “behind the scenes of the WNBA to explore how some of the greatest players balance the demands of the game with motherhood.” Basketball HOFer Sheryl Swoopes, Sky G Skylar Diggins-Smith, Sun G Bria Hartley, Storm Assistant Coach Natalie Achonwa and Celtics VP/Team Operations & Organizational Growth Allison Feaster will “give audiences an unprecedented look at the unique challenges of timing pregnancies around basketball season, maintaining contracts and returning to All-Star form after giving birth.” The doc builds on Roku’s “Gamechangers” anthology series, which includes “The Ashlyn Harris Story” and “America’s Top 25 Female Athletes” (VARIETY, 7/9).
DUNKMAN: VARIETY’s Brent Lang reported Basketball HOFer Shaquille O’Neal and TNT Sports have announced the premiere date for “Dunkman,” the first professional league “tied to dunking.” The first night of live competition will take place July 21 at 8pm ET, while the world championships will air Aug. 25 at 8pm. During the inaugural season, commentary will be provided by Basketball HOFer Vince Carter, Warriors F Draymond Green, multiplatform creator CashNasty and host Adam Lefkoe. The live league events “will air across TNT and HBO Max,” with additional content “across the league’s social channels, Bleacher Report, House of Highlights and YouTube” (VARIETY, 7/9).
