Speed President Hunter Nickell Resigns, Will Remain With News Corp.

Speed President Hunter Nickell has resigned, network officials were told today. An interim replacement will be named by the end of the week. Nickell is expected to stay on with Speed's parent company, News Corp., but his future role with the company was unknown at deadline. Fox Sports put Nickell in charge of Speed in '05. The former high school teacher and coach oversaw Speed's evolution from a niche cable channel to a motorsports network with distribution in more than 75 million homes. A native of Detroit, Nickell came to Speed from FS South in Atlanta.
