IndyCar driver Ed Carpenter on Friday announced his No. 20 Chevy for the Indianapolis 500 “will be sponsored by the U.S. Space Force -- the country's newest military branch.” The livery was unveiled on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.” The deal comes as fellow Ed Carpenter Racing driver Conor Daly’s Air Force car “involves a unique orange paint scheme on his own No. 47, dedicated to the Bell 1-X aircraft that broke the sound barrier in 1947.” Carpenter indicated that this marks the “first time two branches of the military have been represented by sponsorship in the race” (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 8/7).
