Hornets Suspend Announcer Over Insensitive Tweet

The Hornets have "indefinitely suspended radio play-by-play announcer John Focke after a tweet he sent Monday which included the N-word." A Hornets statement said the team did not "condone this type of language" and that they were investigating the matter. He tweeted: “Shot making in this Jazz-(N-word) game is awesome! Murray and Mitchell going back and forth what a game!” Last year, the Hornets dropped play-by-play man Chris Kroeger, and longtime announcer Steve Martin "filled in on radio the rest of that season before Focke was hired" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/18).
