Marshall gets temporary restraining order vs. C-USA

Marshall Univ. has "temporarily succeeded in its attempt to push back on Conference USA’s demand for arbitration as the school tries to leave the conference" for the Sun Belt. The Cabell County Circuit Court in West Virginia "granted a temporary restraining order Thursday, preventing C-USA from proceeding with arbitration." It is enforceable until March 7. Last week, C-USA "sent Marshall a demand for arbitration, in which a third party would make a ruling on Marshall’s ability to leave the conference by July 1." C-USA also "requested an immediate injunction to prevent Marshall from leaving the league." It is "believed C-USA sent the same demand to Southern Miss and Old Dominion, who also plan to leave the league, but the schools have not confirmed" (THEATHLETIC.com, 2/24).
