Tennessee lawmakers eye Titans stadium funding

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee's representatives will meet with members of the state Legislature tomorrow morning to request a $500M "increase in debt to help fund a professional football stadium in Nashville." The money "must specifically be used for a roof or similar enclosure for the stadium, which would make the new venue more viable to host a Super Bowl." It is "not yet clear if the bill will specifically call for a 'new' stadium to be built." The Titans previously planned $600M in Nissan Stadium renovations but then "pivoted to building a new, state-of-the-art stadium." Both ideas "officially remain under discussion." It is "unclear what Metro's contribution to a new stadium would be" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 3/28).
