UEFA has opened an investigation into Juventus for "potential breaches of its club licensing and financial fair play regulations" (BBC, 12/1).

France’s antitrust authority has rejected an appeal by pay-TV channel Canal+ and beIN Sports over its decision that the French soccer league "didn’t abuse its dominant position when it awarded Amazon broadcasting rights to the main Ligue 1 matches" (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 12/1).

Premiership Rugby side Exeter Chair and CEO Tony Rowe has agreed to buy a stake in a hotel owned by the club to "help pay off" government-backed COVID-19 loans. Exeter owns a 75% stake in Sandy Park Hotel, which opened in April. The club did not disclose how much Rowe has paid, or what stake he has taken (BBC, 12/1).

La Liga side Real Betis named Ramón Alarcón its new CEO. Alarcón is currently the club's business director (MARCA, 12/1).

Viaplay Group has secured rights to International Handball Federation competitions in 10 European countries, including the Nordic countries and Poland, until 2031 (Sportfive).
