Overnight Ratings: NBC Sees Decline For Match Play Finale, But Saturday Up Big

NBC drew a 1.8 overnight for yesterday’s final matchups in the WGC-Cadillac Match Play, which saw Rory McIlroy defeat Gary Woodland. Last year’s telecast, which aired on CBS in mid-February during the final weekend of the Sochi Games, drew a 2.0 overnight for Jason Day’s win over Victor Dubuisson. NBC last had the event in ’13, drawing a 1.9 overnight for Matt Kuchar’s win over Hunter Mahan. The ’12 telecast (Mahan over McIlroy) drew a 2.5 overnight. Meanwhile, Saturday’s Match Play telecast on NBC, which moved to primetime for the first time, drew a 2.1 overnight, with a lead-in from the Kentucky Derby. That is up from a 1.5 last year in an afternoon slot.
