Honda Center and the Ducks on Thursday announced a new Daktronics scoreboard will be unveiled on Sept. 25, which is the club’s first preseason home game of the '15-16 NHL season. The new scoreboard screens will measure nearly 20 feet tall and more than 30 feet wide, and feature a display area more than four times the square footage of what the arena previously operated ( Ducks ). Officials said that Ducks Owner Henry Samueli is spending "more than" $10M on the new scoreboard. In California, Art Marroquin noted the HD resolution will be "similar to what’s used" at MSG and Pepsi Center. The new display board also weighs a "whopping 46,000 pounds." The previous 33,000-pound scoreboard "was installed when Honda Center opened" in '93. The display screens were "last replaced eight years ago" ( ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 8/13 ).
