Who You Gonna Call? "Ghostbusters" Promo Gives Brewers Rare Attendance Spike

The Brewers on Saturday drew "more than 37,000 fans" to Miller Park for its promotions around the upcoming release of Columbia Pictures' "Ghostbusters," which is a crowd "about 9,000 larger than the 28,000 the team has averaged through the first half of the season," according to the MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Fans attending the game received a bobblehead doll of Ps Jeremy Jeffress, Taylor Jungmann, Jimmy Nelson and Will Smith "dressed in the famous 'Ghostbusters' costumes," while team employees dressed in the costume "for photo opportunities." Additionally, a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man "was stationed in the concourse for photos and the special ectomobile was parked outside Miller Park" ( BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/11 ). In Milwaukee, Rich Kirchen noted the single-game attendance jump comes as Brewers fans are "showing less interest in the team." There has been a 12% decline in home attendance this season and a 25% "decrease in the television audience" on FS Wisconsin. The Brewers have the "second-largest decrease in total attendance," and rank 16th in attendance this year compared with 10th in '15 ( BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/8 ).
