Time Inc. this morning at its ’17 NewFront presentation in N.Y. unveiled plans to debut a new SI OTT network later this year. The forthcoming on-demand service will feature an array of SI content, both long and short form, including films, documentaries, interviews, analysis, studio programming and material from the magazine’s Swimsuit, MMQB, Sportsperson of the Year and Golf franchises. Time Inc. has not yet finalized details such as distribution and pricing, but the move follows last fall’s debut of a somewhat similar People/Entertainment Weekly Network. “This is the next evolution for this iconic brand,” said Time Inc. President & CEO Rich Battista. The announcement also represents one of the first major moves for Time Inc. since it ended efforts last week to sell off the company assets.
