Univ. of Kansas athletics "expects its budget to increase" to $93.3M next year, according to Sara Shepherd of the LAWRENCE JOURNAL-WORLD. KU CFO Pat Kaufman said that the school's '18 budget is roughly 3.5% "higher than the previous year’s budget." Kaufman noted that the additional money is "primarily attributed to an anticipated 'modest' increase in revenues from ticket sales for all sports, as well as donations." He said that one focus area "would be coaching salaries, many of which fall low on the list compared with peers." Kaufman said that a goal is "raising salaries to the middle or top-third of peers." He said travel costs will "hold the line" in '18, and football will have one fewer road game (LAWRENCE JOURNAL-WORLD, 6/7).
