Entercom Trades Boston's WBZ-FM To Beasley Broadcast Group For WMJX, Cash

In one of the "biggest shake-ups in Boston radio history" WBZ-FM, a CBS Radio station, "will be traded" by Entercom to Beasley Broadcast Group for WMJX-FM and $12M, according to Andy Rosen of the BOSTON GLOBE. Beasley Broadcast "immediately gave a full-throated endorsement of the format and programming" at WBZ. The station broadcasts the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Revolution, and it "features several popular sports talk shows." Beasley Broadcast CEO Caroline Beasley said, "I would expect listeners to not see any changes. It’s just going to be different ownership. [WBZ] is an amazing brand, they generate amazing content, and there’s nothing that we really want to change at this point" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/2). Entercom and CBS have planned to divest a few radio stations ahead of their planned merger (THE DAILY).
