Univ. Of Houston Moves Quickly, Hires Senior Cal Official Chris Pezman As Its New AD

The Univ. of Houston has "selected Chris Pezman -- an alum and former employee" -- to be its new AD, according to Olivia Pulsinelli of the HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. He will succeed Hunter Yurachek, who was named Arkansas AD last week . The UH System Board of Regents "still has to approve the hire," but UH President Renu Khator and Board of Regents Chair Tilman Fertitta will introduce Pezman at a press conference this afternoon. Pezman comes from Cal, where he "served nearly four years" as Senior Associate AD/Facilities, Operations & Event Management and Capital Projects/COO. He also served as the primary football administrator. Before moving to Cal, Pezman served as Houston Assistant AD/Football Operations for the '12 and '13 seasons. He also "spent a decade with NRG Park" ( BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/11 ). In Houston, Joseph Duarte notes contract terms "were not immediately available." Pezman is the "first graduate of UH to be named the school's top athletic official" ( HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 12/12 ).
