AT&T Park will host the Rugby World Cup Sevens from July 20-22, the first time the event will be held in the U.S., and "more than 100,000 fans are expected to fill" the ballpark during the event, according to Ann Killion of the S.F. CHRONICLE. The rugby pitch "will run parallel to the bay, basically stretching from right field to left field." The organizers are "expecting a lively time." Seedings were released yesterday for the 24-team men’s and 16-team women’s tournaments. The games are "quick," as in "seven-minute halves." The women’s competition "will begin Friday and conclude Saturday night." The men’s "will run from Friday through Sunday" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 4/12).
