Geico Putting Logo On Jerseys For Wizards, Mystics, Go-Go

Monumental Sports & Entertainment has signed a deal with Geico that puts the company’s logo on the jerseys of the Wizards, WNBA Mystics and NBA G League Capital City Go-Go. The deal makes the Wizards the 28th NBA team to have a jersey patch deal and the agreement also marks the first time a company has their logo on an NBA, WNBA and G League team jersey. The Geico logo will be on the Wizards jersey Friday when the team plays the Thunder at Capital One Arena. The Maryland-based company is a longtime Monumental Sports sponsor. “We were specific that we wanted a company that was national and deeply committed to the greater Washington community," said MS&E President of Business Operations & Chief Commercial Officer Jim Van Stone. He added the deal brings a "combination of the marquee asset with the jersey, signage, social and digital.” There also is a community outreach element to the agreement. No agencies were used in the deal. The only remaining NBA teams without jersey patch deals are the Pacers and Thunder ( John Lombardo, THE DAILY ). In DC, Scott Allen notes fans at Sunday's Knicks-Wizards game at Capital One Arena will "receive a Geico-branded Wizards jersey T-shirt." The Geico logo will appear "in larger font on the bottom of the front of their jerseys when they open their inaugural season on Saturday" ( WASHINGTONPOST.com, 11/2 ).
