Mets Introduce Subscription Program For Standing-Room Tickets

"BEAUTY-Mets"

The Mets this season are introducing a "new Netflix-style subscription deal" that lets fans "score standing-room-only access to nearly every regular season home game," according to Natalie O'Neill of the N.Y. POST. Any Mets fan with a smartphone can "sign up for the app-based program and download mobile tickets to 78 games this season" for $39 a month. Subscribers to the "Amazin' Mets Pass, which auto-renews every month, can also upgrade to seated tickets on weekdays." The program "doesn't include in-demand games" such as the Mets' home opener on April 4, or two games against the Yankees on July 2-3. Also, users are "not allowed to buy more than six subscriptions each" (N.Y. POST, 3/20). SNY's Jon Hein said other teams have done this before, and "crowds make a difference during the game." Hein: "It's a nice way to get younger people in or if you're just interested in showing up whenever you want to show up and see the Mets" ("Loud Mouths," SNY, 3/20).
