Verizon Expands Esports 5G Sponsorships, Adding FaZe Clan

Verizon has signed a new sponsorship deal with esports organization FaZe Clan. The cellular network provider is now FaZe Clan‘s exclusive 5G and 4G LTE network sponsor.

The deal will see Verizon and FaZe Clan host live events and livestream original gaming content via Verizon’s 5G network. FaZe Clan’s roster of video game streamers has a combined 230 million social media followers. The franchise fields professional esports teams in games such as Fortnite, FIFA and Call of Duty.

Esports has become a target marketplace for Verizon to promote its 5G service. Earlier this year, Verizon signed similar sponsorship deals with League of Legends publisher Riot Games and with esports team Dignitas. That latter deal saw the development of Dignitas’ new training facility inside Verizon’s 5G lab in Los Angeles.
