J League Signs Fantasy Soccer Deal With Blockchain-Backed Sorare

Japan’s J League has signed a licensing agreement with fantasy soccer platform Sorare. All J League players will now be represented by digital trading cards on Sorare that are authenticated via the Ethereum blockchain.

Users can use Ether cryptocurrency to buy and sell cards on Sorare, and then use their digital collectibles to build lineups that compete in fantasy soccer competitions. Paris-based Sorare has previously signed league-wide licensing deals with South Korea’s K League and the MLSPA . It also has deals with individual European clubs such as Juventus and Atletico de Madrid.
